Subaru X-MODE® Overview
Working together with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the driver-activated Subaru X-MODE® System increases drivetrain engagement when you need it most. X-MODE® works by continuously monitoring the traction of each wheel, redistributing power, and providing subtle braking action for wheels that are slipping. Designed for use at low speeds around Altomonte Springs, X-MODE can be engaged when traveling at speeds below 18 mph.
Types of X-MODE® Systems
New Subaru models near Clermont offer two versions of X-MODE®, including a standard system that provides automatic adjustment for various types of slick or loose surfaces. Select models are available with the X-MODE® Dual Mode System, which includes Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud functions for enhanced capability.

Another benefit of using X-MODE® is that the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) System provides automated limited-slip differential control, applying brake pressure to spinning wheels for predictable control on uneven terrain. Plus, available Hill Descent Control improves confidence on steep grades by automatically managing the throttle and brakes as you steer around obstacles near Winter Park.
