(Lateral slip prevention)
The driver's driving habits are detected from the steering
angle, engine speed, selected gear and braking conditions. Vehicle Dynamics
Control (VDC) monitors and analyses whether or not the vehicle is following the
driver's intended course via these sensors. If the vehicle approaches the
limits of stability whilst cornering or avoiding an obstacle, the AWD torque
distribution, engine output and brakes at each wheel are adjusted to assist in
keeping the vehicle on course. All this happens in an instant, without
hindering the sporty driving required by the driver, so as to maintain a safe
level of driving.
Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control System
(WRX STI)
Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) helps protect drivers from a detected loss of control whilst offering three distinct modes for flexible performance. Normal Mode fully engages the system; Traction Mode raises the threshold for intervention, thereby allowing the driver to maximise control and torque delivered to the wheels; And Off Mode can even be selected to deactivate Vehicle Dynamics Control.
ACTIVE TORQUE VECTORING
Cornering performance and steering response are both
improved with Active Torque Vectoring, which applies the brakes and distributes
less torque to the inside wheels, and provides more torque to the outside
wheels. Active Torque Vectoring operating as part of the Vehicle Dynamics
Control System helps to improve overall turning and handling performance.
